Consultation for Grad Students & Therapists

If you’re confused about options for becoming a therapist, or are already in grad school/the real world and feeling overwhelmed, this is for you!

I know what it’s like to try to figure out the different types of grad programs, internships, licensing stuff. It’s not intuitive.

Consultation is a place for you to ask your questions, get answers, & have next steps for you to take.

Grad Students/Those considering becoming a therapist

I know I didn’t know what exactly to look for when choosing a grad program. I definitely didn’t have much insight into what working in the field was actually like. And when I was preparing to graduate, I didn’t have a ton of understanding from my program on all the options I could actually pursue (e.g. private practice).

I’m hoping to provide what I would have loved to have.

In our consultations, we might discuss things like:

  • Different types of graduate programs & considerations

  • Licensing processes (*varies by state and license type)

  • Career options (& especially the options they don’t tell you about for private practice)

  • Interviewing & How to find jobs (I interviewed with at least a handful of private practices, PHP/IOP programs)

  • Money- Income & Costs (What can I expect to make? Costs of private practice?)

New/Current Therapists

The world of graduating & being a pre-licensed clinician can feel overwhelming. You might feel riddled with questions such as:

  • What can I do without my full clinical license?

  • What should I look for in a supervisor/supervision space?

  • How do I get into working in a group private practice ?

  • What is working in Higher Level of Care (HLOC) like?

  • What should I be advocating for myself on? (e.g. pay, benefits, clinical growth opportunities, etc)

  • How do you approach opening your own private practice?

I’m happy to go through all the questions you might have in trying to set yourself up best in this field. People can find it helpful to come in prepared with their long list of questions so we can jump right in!
