FAQ

  • Sessions are 50 minutes long. Many clients do weekly sessions, while biweekly and monthly are also options depending on your needs and scheduling considerations.

  • Yes! I do free 15-minute consult calls with potential new clients to ensure we feel like we could be a good fit. Please reach out via email to set this up!

  • Outside of sessions, I am often finding resources for clients (e.g. books, podcasts, blogs), referrals (e.g. OBGYNs, psychiatrists, support groups, psych testing, dietitians), and doing trainings and ongoing reading/research to best serve clients.

  • I am not in-network with insurance companies, however, I provide Superbills for clients to submit to their insurance companies to get reimbursed directly by their insurance if they have out-of-network benefits. I also utilize a service called Mentaya if clients want, which automatically submits the claims to your insurance and works out any issues to get you reimbursed! Check out the free benefits check tool from Mentaya I have here on my website in the Session Rates tab.

If you choose to do Superbills and submit to your insurance on your own, most insurance companies have you upload your monthly superbill online (it would be sent to you on the 1st of every month) and then they will mail you a check with your reimbursement.

It's always a good idea to call the number on the back of your insurance card and you can ask the following questions.

    • Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible?

    • How much of my deductible has been met this year?

    • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?

    • What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?

    • How much will I be reimbursed for a 45-minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90834)?

    • Does my insurance cover Walk & Talk therapy services?

    • How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?

    • How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?

  • You can call your insurance directly, and/or use my free benefits check tool from Mentaya here on my website. See information in "Do you accept insurance" tab above.

  • Clients are asked to notify me of needing to reschedule/cancel 24 hours or more in advance of the appointment. Clients will be charged the session fee for late cancelations or missed appointments.

  • As noted, out-of-network benefits might apply for you, and I accept HSA/FSA cards and credit/debit cards. We can also discuss if payment plans are needed in spacing out payments.

  • We discuss this ahead of time with options I'm able to offer and possible considerations with your unique situation. Examples might be within Lincoln Park on a path, the Lake Shore walking path. Paths need to be well lit and not have difficult terrain to navigate. See the Walk & Talk section for more info.

  • We meet on the secure EHR platform called TherapyNotes for sessions, and/or can do Doxy.me (HIPAA compliant) if there are issues with the EHR system at times.
